Wilson was selected and funded by the Anonymous Trust to work with MDC, a highly regarded organization out of Durham, for a comprehensive study of the workforce and talent development system in Wilson County. This initiative will be informed by the voices of low-wage workers, educators, employers, and students as a way to understand and craft solutions that bridge the gaps in the talent development pipeline in Wilson. Doing so will provide local leaders with ideas to strengthen career pathways that will support the most vulnerable people in the education and workforce systems.
Through a series of conversations, the current realities of the talent development system will be evaluated to create a vision for equitable opportunities, determine the forces that help people (re)connect to the talent development system, and develop a set of recommended solutions to promote postsecondary attainment and ultimately, increase economic mobility odds.
